FINES IN SAUDI ARABIA


The maximum fine for breaking the signal can be increased to 6 thousand Riyals, which is at the discretion of the Traffic Board. The traffic department in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has indicated the possibility of increasing the fines for breaking signals. 

The traffic department of Saudi Arabia has clarified the fact that the fine for breaking the signal has been increased from 3,000 riyals to 6,000 riyals and said that the maximum fine for breaking the signal can be increased to 6,000 riyals, which decision is at the discretion of the traffic board. 

According to the Saudi traffic department, clause number 6 of the traffic laws states that a fine of 3000 to 6000 thousand riyals will be imposed for breaking the signal, for crossing the school bus, for damaging the traffic single and for not stopping at the investigation centres. It will also apply to using such conditions or items in the vehicle which are not allowed or pasting stickers against public decency or driving in the opposite direction or racing on a public highway.

The department said that violating the red light signal is not only limited to the violator but also poses a threat to the safety of road users, under the traffic rules implemented in 2018, traffic fines under normal circumstances. The enforcement will be from a lower level, however, in certain situations, the enforcement of fines will be from the highest level.

In addition, a warning has also been issued regarding the use of mobile phones while driving in Saudi Arabia. The Director General of the Traffic Department, Brigadier Mohsin Al-Zahrani, has instructed Saudi citizens and foreigners not to use mobile phones while driving. That its use is harmful and several families have lost their lives in traffic accidents in several areas of the kingdom due to the use of mobile phones within a few months.
